In addition to the numerous constitutional lawyers, electronic freedom fighters, consumer advocacy and human rights groups, and media organizations that have condemned Thomas M. Cooley's lawsuits against bloggers and internet commentators and stood up in support of this very blog now comes a law professor (from a REAL law school) calling out Cooley for its unethical abuse of the same legal system it hypocritically attempts to "teach" to its students along with knowledge, skills, and ethics (LULZ). In response to a commentator who references this blog and points out the absurdity and baseless nature of Cooley's "lawsuit", ironically pointing that Cooley will likely be responsible for creating Michigan law on anonymity (on the wrong end of the law, of course), the most honest law professor in the industry, Paul Campos of Inside the Law School Scam, responds by branding Cooley's claims as a SLAPP. The word SLAPP and Cooley are becoming synonymous, it seems.

I graduated from Cooley Law School. Cooley Law was terrible - the administration was especially useless, (Yeah, you Cynthia Ward and Amy Timmer - i.e. Lucifer reincarnate) and looked for reasons to make your life miserable, had no sense of fairness, common sense, or any reasonable basis or rationale for half of their idiotic decisions.

Would I recommend Cooley to anyone? Hell No. If you have choices, go somewhere else. It was like a terrible year round boot camp which felt like it would never end. Every semester was another prayer answered if you weren't failed out on an arbitrary grade.

With all of that said, Cooley truly will prepare you for the bar exam and you can make of it what you want, if you get through it. I graduated in approximately the top 25%, passed the bar exam on the first try, and was employed full time before my bar exam results came in. I started at a decent wage significantly above the median reported by Cooley and have earned several salary increases and partnership in my first two years out. I am an aggressive go getter litigator that can turn absolute shit into gold - with an ability to make it rain. If you want it bad enough anyone can succeed while at Cooley and after Cooley. If you don't want it bad, you will fail.

As for the lawsuit against Cooley I hope Cooley takes it in the ass hard. Someone needs to give them a bit of their own medicine. Cooley's defamation lawsuit against the firm suing them is completely ridiculous and a good example of how petty the Cooley high ups really are. Paul Robert Cohen once wore a shirt that said "Fuck the Draft." I'm getting one that says "Fuck Cooley".
